1) Today (June 12) is the 10th anniversary of the death of Barbara Schneider, who was shot by Minneapolis police responding to a mental health crisis call. Since then, a group called the Barbara Schneider Foundation has been formed to educate police and others about how to deal with such crises. Mark Anderson is director. The Minneapolis police department's Crisis Intervention Team has become a model for “C-I-T” s
in other communities.
2) It was ten years ago today (June 12) that Barbara Schneider of Minneapolis was shot and killed by police who responded to a mental health crisis. As a result of that incident, a new approach was developed to handle such cases. Mark Anderson heads the Barbara Schneider Foundation:
Since then, other departments in Minnesota have developed their own crisis intervention teams, modeled after the Minneapolis Police C-I-T.
